What Drives the Emergence of Social Networks?

摘要
Current social network research is focused on building topological models which reflect the structure and evolution of such complex networks. As the social network emergence is generally driven by simple preferential attachment rules, this paper is set to reveal which network centrality is the most important in defining preference. Based on recent literature and our own empirical analysis, we argue that node betweenness is the main force that drives social network emergence.
