摘要：

By means of the further study of the virtual products development technology and PDM systematic functions, the shortage of the current PDM system is presented in such computer supported cooperative work, product innovation design, heterogeneous model visualization, virtual reality and data security for virtual product development, and the PDM systematic function architecture for supporting virtual products development is put forward. Besides, the concept of the product characteristics database is introduced for the first time, as well as the discussion of the realization method of the innovation design based on it. In the product development environments, the supporting of the virtual product development is realized in the improved CSCW environment integrated the multi-media conference system, model visualization and virtual assembly tools with the PDM.
