Synthesis and Characterization of Ti1-xSnxO2 Nanoparticles and Nanotubes and their Photovoltaic Properties as Dye-Sensitized Solar Cell Photoelectrodes

Ti1-xSnxO2 nanoparticles with different Ti/Sn ratios (x=00.1 and 1.0) were successfully synthesized by the coprecipitation method, and its nanotubes were prepared from low-temperature chemical synthesis in NaOH solution. The influence of Sn dopant on the structures and the photovoltaic properties as dye-sensitized solar cells for these nanostructured TiO2 were investigated. The photovoltaic performance of Ti1-xSnxO2 nanoparticle photoelectrodes degraded with the addition of Sn. However, regardless of the absence of Sn, a conversion efficiency of TiO2 nanotubes made from Ti1-xSnxO2 (x=00.05) nanoparticles increased depending on the x value and reached to 5.98% for x=0.05.
