Teachers' Skill and Information and Communication Technology Integration in Teaching and Learning Process

摘要
Nowadays, computers and ICT application among teachers has attracted researchers' attention that need to be considered and studied. This study focused on four objectives, which are to determine the level of computer skills and types of ICT software and equipment integration among teachers, the difference of ICT integration according to teachers' teaching experience and the difference in ICT software and equipment skill between genders. 118 teachers from three different rural schools in Banting, Selangor were involved in this study. A questionnaire built by the researcher was employed as the instrument for this study. It contained 3 main sections. Descriptive statistics analysis in the form of frequencies, mean and percentages was used in the data analysis. Independent T-test was also used to see the significant difference between genders. As a whole, the results of this study showed that the computer skills level among teachers was still at the average level. Teachers tend to use computer and ICT software and equipment only for their personal use and not for teaching and learning processes. It was also found out that new teachers who have 6 to 10 years of teaching experience tend to use ICT software and equipment more as compared to experienced teachers. There are also significant differences between genders.
