摘要
Safety measures, quality requirements and expected profit influence the costing of construction projects. The cost dynamics of these three considerations are interrelated and independent variables. High quality control and assurance of tasks require more inspections or testing. Additional safely features or measures on tasks can mean more personal protective equipment or safety gadgets. These requirements will clearly incur additional cost. Using 52 examples of steel erections, this study showed that actual profit can increase by five to 10% for an investment of one to 3% in safety. In addition, by including safely in every task of a construction project the tendency to compromise safety measures due to additional high costs or inadequate appropriation of funds will be reduced. The study concluded that safely costs money and can save money.
