Shear Localization of 7055 Aluminum Alloy under Dynamic Compression

摘要
1-4 times dynamic compression for four AA7055 aluminum alloy specimens were carried out respectively by split Hopkinson pressure bar(SHPB), and the microstructure of the compressed specimens was observed by optical microscopy. The result shows that with the increase of compression times, the material's mechanical response changes from strain hardening to strain softening, while the microstructure of the specimens develops from uniform deformation to forming shear localization; the initially-formed shear localization has no effect on the specimen's yield stress, and with the loading proceeding, the development of shear localization is simultaneous with the decline of flow stress.
