摘要
This paper summarizes the elements required for analysing 'the food question' as a constituent element of broader socioeconomic processes. To do this, the paper establishes the linkages between food-related issues and economic development in low-income countries, more specifically, in Latin America, with special reference to Brazil as a large country example. Based on contributions from 'development economics', the research examines the main conditions for achieving economic growth with increasing social equity with special focus on food security, and requirements as regards global and sectoral policies.
