This paper summarizes the active-learning immersion accomplished by and for upperclass, undergraduate students in Fairfield University. The course-work/field-work reviewed here was carried out in the Spring, Summer, and Fall of 1998. The fieldwork portion of the overall coursework actively involved students and faculty working on-site in Limerick, Ireland at the University of Limerick and several other learning locations, and in Dublin and Galway, Ireland. The presentation is made by a faculty member and a student from Fairfield University, both of whom were active participants in the program described here. The materials here describe briefly the Objectives, Coursework, Participants, Locations, and the Fieldwork involved in this active learning immersion experience and provide a brief Retrospective concerning the project.
