Young activists political socialization: learning political practices and gender norms

Young activists political socialization: learning political practices and gender norms This article studies political socialization in youth activist groups and the differentiated inscription of women and men in this process, in order to understand women's exclusion from responsibilities and eligible positions in political parties. It argues, on the one hand, that gender standards and the sexual division of militant labour shape the activities of these organizations and the acquisition of political competence by their members. On the other hand, it examines women's opportunities to access responsibilities, within contexts of low political stakes or structural renegotiations for the group.
