摘要
Cold spraying is a new additive manufacturing method capable of producing titanium alloy parts at a high production rate under ambient conditions. In this work, encapsulated hot isostatic pressing (HIP) was applied to reduce the porosity and improve the mechanical properties of cold-sprayed Ti6Al4V deposits. Encapsulated HIP at 110 MPa and 1173 K was found to significantly change the microstructure of the deposits owing to enhanced diffusion and material recrystallization. The total porosity decreased from 7.5 to 0.2%. The measured ultimate tensile strengths of the as-built and HIP-treated samples were similar to 70 and similar to 950 MPa, respectively. The elongation at break also increased, from less than 1% to similar to 13%.
