Psychometric Properties of Revised Parental Social Support Scale

In this study it is examined the psychometric properties of the Revised Parental Social Support Scale-RPSSS. Instrument consist of two parts: Perceived Social Support-PSS and Satisfaction with Perveived Social Support-SPSS. A number of validity analyses, such as exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis, correlations between subscales, item-total correlations, correlations between PSS and SPSS, correlations between RPSSS-PSS and RPSSS-SPSS with Multidimentional Scale of Perceived Social Support-Revised, were conducted for RPSSS-PSS and RPSSS-SPSS. Internal consistency of RPSSS-PSS and RPSSS-SPSS were calculated by Cronbach Alpha and Spearman-Brown split-half coefficients. These analyses revealed that evidence of reliability, and four factor structure (Social Companionship Support, Information Support, Emotional Support, and Caring Support) for both part of the instrument, and construct validity. Results showed that RPSSS can be used to understand parents' perceived social support and satisfaction with these supports.
