摘要
The nodular morphology of graphite and mechanical properties that characterize ductile iron make this alloy a material of important industrial applications: applications that would not be possible without an adequate control of the melting metal process (chemical composition, nodularization, and inoculation). This study is focused on the preliminary results of an inoculation optimization that is being developed at a foundry industry. For this study, Computer-Aided Cooling Curve Analysis software was used to examine the behavior of three different inoculants with the same level of addition. The results showed that inoculation increases the number of graphite nodules and the better ones were obtained with an inoculant having BaCaAl.
