摘要
Accumulation of solids in storm sewers results in losing flow-carrying capacity, which might block flow and cause an upstream surcharge, local flooding, and enhanced solids deposition. Sewer-solid accumulation in urban drainage systems also creates septic conditions that could create such problems as odour, health hazards, and corrosion. Moreover, sewer sediment from prior storms could contribute a significant amount of pollutants to receiving waters. Continuous in-situ survey was carried out on separated sewers in a district of Beijing with this study for investigating the sediment accumulation state in sewers and the corresponding impacting factors. It would also be helpful to the management of storm sewers network and useful for urban communities in developing better plans reducing risks caused by storm sewer sediments.
