A new stationary phase for capillary gas chromatography based on amphiphilic triblock copolymer-Benzimidazolium ionic liquid

摘要
In this work, a novel amphiphilic triblock copolymer bonded with benzimidazolium ionic liquid (TCP-Bim) was designed, synthesized, and employed as stationary phase for capillary gas chromatography (GC) column. This innovative column exhibited moderate polarity and an efficiency of 3280 plates/m, showing high resolutions for a wide range of analytes, with marked capabilities towards isomer separations, and different retention behaviors and separation performances respect to TCP or commercial HP-35 and PEG-20 M columns. The TCP-Bim sta-tionary phase has exhibited in some cases unmatched separation capabilities, like, for example, in the case of separation of chloroaniline and bromoaniline. Its column performances have been compared with TCP and other commercial columns analyzing from apolar to polar compounds, showing in every case outstanding capability which clearly indicate that TCP-Bim can be considered a very interesting candidate as a new type of stationary phase in GC.
