Saturation throughput affected by the ratio of direct-to-diffuse signal power in the wireless LAN

摘要
This paper analyzes saturation throughput variation quantitatively over Rayleigh or Ricean fading channels under the CSMA/CA (Carrier Sense Multiple Access/Collision Avoidance)-based DCF (Distributed Coordination Function) protocol at the MAC layer in the 802.11a wireless LAN. We find the fact that when the ratio of direct-to-diffuse signal power is increased, the saturation throughput is increased and saturated. By analyzing the DCF saturation throughput quantitatively about the mandatory data rate of 6Mbps, 12 Mbps, 24 Mbps and the highest data rate of 54 Mbps, we also find the fact that saturation throughput is dependent on the packet transmission probability, the number of stations and the ratio of received average energy per bit-to-noise power spectral density.
