USE OF PORNOGRAPHY AND CONSUMPTION OF LICIT DRUGS IN ADOLESCENTS

The use of pornography and the use of licit drugs in adolescents are two behaviors that require attention, this in relation to the risks that both behaviors can affect the mental health and healthy development of the adolescent. Objectives: To compare the use of pornography in high school adolescents by consumers and non-consumers, in addition to knowing the relationship between the use of pornography and the age of onset of licit drug use. Materials and Method: Cross-sectional descriptive correlational design study in 168 high school adolescents aged between 12 and 15 years, the sampling was random probability. Results and conclusions: Men were the largest consumers of pornography and alcohol and tobacco consumption. When comparing the use of pornography by consumers and non-users of licit drugs, significant differences were found only in alcohol users, presenting higher means and medians (U = 863.50, p <.001). When performing the Spearman Rho correlation by sex, it was found that the age of onset of alcohol consumption in men was negatively correlated with the fantasy subscale and in women, it was found that the age of onset of alcohol consumption was positively correlated with the age of tobacco onset and with the fantasy subscale.
