Modification of Fe-containing intermetallic compounds by K addition to Fe-rich AA319 aluminum alloys

摘要
The influence of K addition on the Fe-containing intermetallic compounds in Fe-rich AA319 Al alloys has been investigated. At 0.5 wt.% Fe level, K modifies the platelet beta-Al5FeSi compound into the Chinese script alpha-Al(8)Fe(2)Fi compound. Moreover, K addition modifies the eutectic Si simultaneously.
