摘要
E2F transcription factors are well known regulators of cell cycle progression in all eukaryotes. Using biochemical and genetic approaches, Kallai, Kourova and colleagues demonstrate that the microtubule nucleation factor gamma-tubulin interacts with all plant E2Fs and appear to inhibit their activity: reduced accumulation of'gamma-tubulin results in ectopic cell division in some cell types and enhanced endoreduplication in others (Kallai et al., 2020). This study reveals a microtubule-independent function of gamma-tubulin in plant cells.
