摘要
Laboratory experiences are essential for learning science like chemistry. Learning of abstract concepts occurs more concretely in a laboratory setting. A good pedagogical strategy is essential as the laboratory affects students' learning and what they take away from a laboratory course. In addressing the shortfalls of the existing laboratory, green chemistry experiments were designed and researched on the appropriateness to teach secondary level chemistry. Following a series of workshops on green chemistry experiments, 70 secondary school teachers observed that green chemistry experiments are in accordance with the current syllabus, are feasible to implement, possess the characteristics of encouraging inquiry, being safe and relevant. Additionally, the green chemistry experiments embrace the cognitive, affective and psychomotor domains. The experiments resolved several challenges emerging from operating the traditional lab. The findings of this study suggest green chemistry possesses the potential to be integrated into mainstream chemistry education.
