摘要
Zinc oxide (ZnO) nanoplates were synthesized with a simple and low cost hydrothermal method using zinc nitrate and ammonium carbonate as starting materials. The structural characterization was done using X-Ray diffraction (XRD) which revealed the wurtzite phase in crystalline structure of ZnO. The morphology was studied through scanning electron microscopy (SEM) which showed formation of 2D plate like structures. UV-visible spectroscopy showed the absorption peak at 360 nm and indicated that ZnO nanoplates have direct band gap energy of 3.24 eV. The presence of various functional groups was analyzed using Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. The surface stoichiometry and presence of surface contaminants were studied using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). (C) 2021 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
