摘要
The failure mechanism, governed by particulate fracturing in aged materials, for a spray-deposited (SD) SiCp-reinforced Al-Zn-Mg-(Cu) alloy was studied. An increase in the modulus of elasticity and decrease in both ductility and strength were observed for peak-aged materials relative to unreinforced alloy. Transmission electron microscopy revealed a massive precipitation of metastable η′ precipitates within Al grains and the presence of relatively large particles mainly consisting of a Mg2Zn3Al2 phase, cubic in structure with a lattice parameter close to 1.47 nm.
