摘要
The liquid metal embrittlement in copper stressed in the presence of liquid bismuth was studied. The solid was immersed in semi-infinite volume of liquid metal in order to allow continuous supplying of bismuth during the test. The kinetics of embrittlement under stress was compared with that determined without external stress. A significant reduction of fracture stress and elongation was observed. The elastic behavior of Cu was not modified in the presence of liquid Bi but plastic deformation was necessary before rupture.
