Torque scaling in Taylor-Couette flow

摘要
Building on a quantitative analogy between Rayleigh-Benard flow and Taylor-Couette flow we describe the angular momentum current and the difference between turbulent and laminar dissipation in terms of the transverse motions. The torque derived within this model is in quantitative agreement with observations by Lewis and Swinney. The model also predicts relations between Reynolds number and torque at different radius ratios.
