The exploitation of forest resources in the Crown of Castile: need, use value andexchange (14th-16th Centuries)

The diverse usufructs of the Castilian forests are expressed in numerous regulations. The protection of the communities and the preservation of their resources are the main motivations of the ordinances of the local powers between the 14th and 16th centuries. This work aims to characterize the different social and productive practices and interests that converge in these spaces, to account for the respective incidence of the economy of necessity, the logic of use value and commercial circulation on the forms of forest exploitation in this period.
