A solid film consisting of alpha,alpha'-di(p-dimethylaminobenzylidene)cyclopentanone (DMABCP), which is a salient two-photon absorption (TPA) compound, was fabricated by a method based on the Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) technique. The obtained film was highly transparent and had a high optical density. We have demonstrated that a TPA cross section of an organic compound in solid state can be estimated by the Z-scan technique making use of the present film.
