摘要：

Microfinance is comparatively a new discipline for academic research, receiving a good reputation as a unique and effective developmental approach. This study examines the financial efficiency of 36 microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Sri Lanka using non-parametric data envelopment analysis and will look into the studies conducted by various academicians, researchers, scholars and policy makers etc. Findings show Banks and NBFIs, microfinance institutions particularly, are the most efficient than the Guarantee companies NGOs and Private and public companies. This result reflects that banks are the financial intermediaries and have access to local capital market.
