Identifying and prioritizing the benefits and concerns of connected and autonomous vehicles: A comparison of individual and expert perceptions

摘要
Connected and autonomous vehicles (CAVs) have led to innovative transformations in the transportation sector through convergence among automotive, intelligence, and information technologies. Given the fast pace of technological evolution, the technological development of CAVs is being intensively promoted by suppliers, including automakers and IT companies. Some studies have recently investigated the social and market acceptability of CAVs from the individual perspective. However, to our knowledge, none or few studies have focused on comparing the relative importance of value attributes that are likely to have a significant influence on market success in terms of both demand and supply. To bridge this research gap, we identify the perception differences in benefits and concerns of 98 individuals on the demand side and 46 experts on the supplier side using the analytic hierarchy process. The results revealed safety attributes as the most important benefit and concern in common. However, individuals rated driving and parking convenience, and financial burden more importantly, while experts gave higher priority to social advantages and social challenges.
