摘要
Air-powered engine (APE) is one of the promising low emission engines, with the advantages of its simple structure and complete zero-pollution. Based on the thermodynamic analysis, the model of APE developed for engine performance analysis and design is described in this paper. A prototype APE converted from a single-cylinder four-stroke gasoline engine is tested for checking the accuracy of the mode. Good agreement of computation results is obtained between the model and the prototype engine. Thus, the model is applied to analyse the influence of the port timing, one of the key parameters that control the operating process of the APE. The simulation results demonstrate the different effects of the four parameters of the port timing, i.e. intake advance angle (IAA), intake sustain angle (ISA), exhaust advance angle (EAA) and exhaust delay angle (EDA), upon the APE.
