On the shape of a dislocation shear loop in stable equilibrium

摘要：

It is demonstrated that the shape of a dislocation shear loop held in stable equilibrium by an infinitesimal shear loop of the same sign at its centre is a circle. This unexpected result may help to explain some discrepancies between the shape of loops predicted by de Wit and Koehler and experimental observation.
