摘要
Aims: Comprehensive knowledge and data-interpretation competences are essential for the successful use of continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) systems. SPECTRUM is a manufacturer-independent structured training programme for real-time CGM systems (rtCGM). The 'CGM-TRAIN study' evaluated the efficacy and acceptance of SPECTRUM among adults. Methods: 120 participants were recruited by 10 German diabetes centres. Outcome measures were rtCGM knowledge, practical skills, satisfaction with the training programme, satisfaction and acceptance of the rtCGM system, and changes in HbA(1c). Data were collected at study entry, after training completion, and at a 6 months follow-up visit. Results: 110 participants completed the training (8% drop out). After training completion, rtCGM-specific knowledge increased by 43% (p <0.001). This level persisted throughout the follow-up period. Participants were able to master nearly all the practical requirements. HbA(1c) improved slightly from 77 +/- 1.3 % to 76 +/- 13 % (p = 0.04). The training programme itself was favourably rated by participants (mean grade 1.4). Conclusions: SPECTRUM improved knowledge and skills about usage of rtCGM systems in adults with type 1 diabetes. Participation in this teaching programme was associated with a reduced HbA(1c), high satisfaction, and acceptance of rtCGM.
