A Broadband Switchable Metamaterial Based on VO2

摘要
We report on an electric controllable broadband terahertz metamaterial switch based on patterned vanadium dioxide. The switch consists of a series of voltage biasing lines and cut-wires connected with structured vanadium dioxide. Experiments demonstrate a high modulation depth (up to 300%) and a broad 3dB-frequency band (>1 THz) with the device heated at 67 degrees C and controlled by current flow. The results are in good correspondence with simulations.
