摘要
Purpose: This study was conducted to determine the sleep quality and the factors affecting it of the nurses working with the shift system. Materials and Methods: The study was carried out with the nurses working with the shift system as descriptive and cross-sectional in a university hospital between March-May 2018. In the study, 243 nurses were included in the study. Data were collected from the nurses accepting to participate after gaining verbal consent with individual information form and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). Results: It was determined that of the participant nurses, mean age was 27,00 +/- 6,03, 78.6% was female, 57.2% was single. PSQI mean score of nurses was 12.70 +/- 4.27 (min: 3; max: 20). It was found that sleep quality of nurses was affected by variables such as having child, level of income, having regular medication, doing an extra work, having difficulties in night shift, social life and family relations. Conclusion: The sleep quality of the nurses working with the shift system was found to be low. Working with intermittent shifts may be beneficial for improving the sleep quality of nurses. In addition, in order to increase the sensitivity of managers, similar studies should be conducted with larger samples consisting of nurses working with different shift system..
