Coastal area plays various roles for human life as food supplier, recreation area, and biodiversity. Its roles are very important from the environmental, economic, and social aspects. However, most of the coastal area surrounded by big cities is landfilled for industrial use or as a final site our garbage goes to. It provides us economic growth, however, it causes serious problems such as eutrophication, loss of biodiversity, and lack of people's access to coastal area. Osaka Bay is one of such coastal areas in Japan, which has dramatically changed in theses fifty years. This study aims to identify awareness of residents toward Osaka Bay. This study conducts questionnaire survey to investigate attitudes of residents focusing on the distance from Osaka Bay. Target city is Hannan city, which is located in southwest of Osaka. The results indicate that the distance between residence and Osaka Bay can affect the resident's awareness towards Osaka Bay.
