Concatenated Spectrum Multi-Band TOA Estimation

this paper investigates Time-of-Arrival (TOA) estimation performance of a non-contiguous multi-band radio considering the realistic assumption of frequency selective channel across all bands. It is depicted that the resulted TOA performance is comparable to that of utilizing a bandwidth equivalent to the addition of all available frequency bands. A high resolution TOA estimation architecture is proposed that is based on concatenating the estimated channels across sub-bands all sub-bands and applying a TOA estimation method to the whole available spectrum. The Cramer-Rao Bound (CRB) of the TOA estimation for this method is computed. Minimum Mean Square Estimation (MMSE) algorithm is applied to evaluate the performance of the proposed system. Simulations are conducted to study the performance in terms of the variance-of-error.
