摘要
This paper addresses the seismic vulnerability, risk, and resilience of the water systems of four municipalities of Mexico City affected by the September 19, 2017 earthquake and their coincidences with what happened in 1985. Most relevant aspects and results regarding these events are analyzed and discussed. Historic information of the seismic damage produced to the water systems in Mexico is presented. The physical and operational characteristics of the damaged systems and the damage produced by this event and its relation with local soil conditions and earthquake characteristics is presented and discussed. Details of the damage to the investigated aqueducts and networks are described. Based on this information, the seismic vulnerability, risk, resilience and loss, and recovery of functionality of these systems after this earthquake are evaluated suggesting for future events the simulation of damage scenarios. Finally, general conclusions and recommendations for the strengthening of these systems aimed to reduce their seismic vulnerability and to improve their resilience and the functionality recovery time.
