Photorefractivity of nematic liquid crystals

摘要：
A theoretical treatment of photo-refractive effect and experimental verifications of the associated nonlinear-optical processes in the nematic phase of liquid crystals are presented. The effect is attributed to the de space charge fields induced by the photo-charges which may come from the photoionization impurities. The phenomenon is analyzed and a theoretical model of photorefractivity in nematic liquid crystals is developed. New experimental results are found to be in good agreement with the theory.
