Pulse propagation in coherently prepared media

The results of a numerical experiment are reported, in which the spatio-temporal propagation dynamics of a strong, primary and a weak, secondary pulse, in a coherently prepared atomic medium are investigated. Our ''measurements'' reveal the possibility of utilizing a coherently prepared medium to control the amplitude and phase of a pulse. The results show how the attenuation of a pulse at one transition of a three-level system is altered by the presence of a much weaker pulse at another transition.
