Resistance to theory in texts about the fantastic. The case of Marcelo Cohen

This work proposes to corroborate the hypothesis that the fantastic (in its various literary modes) resists theory, that is, remarks the resistance of literature to its theorization, more than other modes or narrative genres. While it is possible to see a renewed interest in the fantastic since the early 2000s, evidenced by the publication of works by Argentine authors whose sales show readers' attention to the genre, however, we don't observe the same tenor of theoretical-critical productions in this regard. In contrast to this, the critical work inverted exclexpressionmexpressiontion Realmente fantastico! of Marcelo Cohen constitutes an exception. With its particular theoretical-critical -literary writing the author manages to overcome the limitations of theory and criticism in relation to the fantastic and delineates an aesthetic project that operates in the realm of life experience, based on the artistic field. The work is framed within the discussions on "the resistance to theory " proposed by Paul De Man and retaken in the Argentine critical field, mainly by Miguel Dalmaroni, Judith Podlubne and Alberto Giordano.
