Two automated systems, BD Phoenix and bioMerieux Vitek 2, were compared to a double-disk diffusion method for the detection of inducible resistance to clindamycin in Staphylococcus spp. Analysis of 524 clinical isolates revealed sensitivity and specificity of 100% and 99.6%, respectively, for Phoenix and 91.1% and 99.8%, respectively, for Vitek 2.
