摘要
This article reviews the literature, published between 1990 and 1996, in which the relation between social class and work and retirement behavior was studied. Work behavior was broadly defined to include vocational pre-entry, entry, and exit behaviors. Retirement behavior included nonemployment and discretionary behaviors such as leisure activities. Each major section of the review includes a summary of the literature reviewed and a presentation of significant methodological concerns. Finally, an attempt is made to direct scholars toward a more psychological conceptualization and operationalization of social class in future studies of work and retirement behavior.
