Magnetic properties of La(Co1-xCrx)(13) compounds with an NaZn13-type structure

摘要
A new phase system La(Co1-xCrx)(13) with an NaZn13-type structure has been obtained in the range x less than or equal to 0.2. The lattice constant increases slightly with increasing x. With the increase in x, both the magnetic moment and the Curie temperature decrease more rapidly than those of other LaCo13-based systems. The present compounds are regarded as strong ferromagnets on the basis of the magnetic valence model. The magnitude of high-field susceptibility of ternary compounds is small and comparable with that of binary LaCo13, reflecting the strong ferromagnetic properties. A linear relationship between the Curie temperature and the spin-wave stiffness constant was observed.
