Complexity-reduced video decoding techniques are essential to applications, where computation power is limited and full resolution images are not required. We propose a complexity-reduced Inverse Discrete Cosine Transform (IDCT) technique to save MPEG-2 decoding computation while retaining reasonable visual quality. The proposed method features with extended DCT masks and vertical transform skipping. It is tested against other existing techniques using rectangular DCT masks.
