摘要
Background: The relationship quality (RQ) between parents and their alliance in the parenting role (coparenting [CP]) are two of the most important protective factors for childhood development. Objective: This study aimed to measure how high the stability of RQ and CP over the course of 10 years (six assessment points) is and to what extent both constructs are connected. Would the RQ and CP predict mental disorders in childhood and adolescence? Method: The data for married or cohabiting families with a kindergarten child (N = 219) were longitudinally evaluated. Results: The stability of RQ (r(Mother) =.71; r(Father) =.75) and CP (r(M) =.67; r(F) =.71), as well as the RQ*CP intercorrelation (r(M) = -.60; r(F) = -.57) over the course of 10 years, were found to be high. In particular, CP predicted mental disorders in childhood and adolescence (beta =.16 to.45). Discussion: Due to the stability of the two constructs, early interventions could be associated with positive longterm effects regarding mental health problems in childhood and adolescence.
