St Scholastica's Office in Medieval Manuscripts of St George's Convent at Prague Castle

St Scholastica is one of the central Benedictine saints. Two offices for St Scholastica can be found in manuscripts of St George's Convent at Prague Castle. The office Quadam vero die appears in sources from the second half of the 121h century; its tradition is noticeable until the 14th century in Bohemia. The office is unique, with no concordances in European liturgical manuscripts. The later office, Regnum cell, is preserved in St George's manuscripts from the second half of the 14th century. This office is one piece of evidence for the link between St George's Convent and monasteries adhering to the so-called Hirsau Reforms. This paper briefly presents several traditions of St Scholastica's feast in Europe, but is mainly focuses on St Scholastica's office in St George's manuscripts in the Middle Ages.
