摘要
Red and yellow cashew apples were dried by forced air drying or vacuum freeze drying and extracted using 70% ethanol reflux. The antimicrobial activity of cashew apple extracts was investigated on common pathogens. No significant difference was found between red and yellow cashew apple extracts. The forced air dried cashew apple extracts and freeze dried cashew apple extracts showed different inhibitory effects on differnent test microorganisms. The forced air dried cashew apple extracts showed strong inhibition on Staphylococcus aureus, Candida albicans, Bacillus proteus and Escherichia coli, with MIC of 0.0625g/mL. For Staphylococcus epidermidis CBL-R and Staphylococcus epidermidis TS5, the MIC was 0.125g/mL.
