Phtotochemically Grown Silver Nanocubes: Synthesis and Characterization

摘要
Special shaped novel metal nanoparticles have become the focus of intensive research owing to their unique application in nanoscale devices. We report here the fabrication of silver nanocubes by photochemical method. Spherically shaped silver nanoparticles dispersed in polyvinyl alcohol are synthesized by chemical method which is then irradiated with monochromatic light of wavelength 510nm for 23hrs. The obtained silver nanocubes are characterised by SEM, XRD, UV-Vis spectrscopy and photoluminescence. SEM image shows that the particles are cubic in shape and average size of the particle is in the range120-150nm. UV-Vis spectra shows a very strong plasmon resonance peak at 435 nm. XRD pattern shows a characteristic peak of silver nano at 2 theta= 38.1 degrees for (111) plane.
