Ericsson demonstrated the next step of long-term evolution (LTE), known as LTE Advanced, to the Swedish Post and Telecom Agency (PTS). The enhancements introduced with the LTE Advanced include carrier aggregation and extended multiple-input, multiple-output (MIMO) functionality. The International Multimedia Telecommunications Consortium has completed the first ever voice over LTE (VoLTE) test on a live LTE infrastructure. ZTE Corporation has launched the ZXSDR BS8920, which is the world's smallest commercially available LTE base station. DOVADO has announced the world's smallest fourth generation (4-G) LTE-capable universal serial bus (USB) router, measuring only 20 mm × 58 mm × 87 mm. Radio-Frequency Systems (RFS) announced the a availability of a new cross-polarized, triple-band base station antenna that delivers an unmatched combination of design and performance innovations, including LTE 800 support. VeeTIME is working with the Taiwanese government to offer connectivity onboard Taiwan's high-speed rail.
