The concept of multiple scattering in single scatterers is utilized to analyse scattering of elastic SH waves by a cylindrical scatterer consisting of two eccentric layers. The solution follows the physical process of multiple scattering within the layered scatterer, leading to an analytically exact solution. Numerical computations are performed for eccentric circular cylindrical scatterers. Effects on the propagation pattern of the scattered wave due to changes in the eccentricity are examined. It is observed that when the wavelength in the host medium is comparable to the outer diameter of the scatterer, all the geometric parameters of the inner layer, namely, the eccentricity, orientation and radius, have drastic effects on the propagation pattern of the scattered wave.
