摘要
The primary aim of vibration analysis in Structural Engineering is to detect damages within a structural component so that the damage quantification can be done in order to repair it to increase its serviceability. Dynamic characteristics of a damaged and healthy component differ because of change in stiffness/ mass and hence can be used for the detection of damage. In the present paper, the Eigenvalues/ Eigenvectors of a uniform cantilever healthy beam are determined analytically using Euler-Bernoulli's approach and by the general finite element method approach (ANSYS (TM)). Free Vibration analysis is carried out by inducing the damage in the form of stiffness reduction & modal characteristics are extracted. The damage quantification is done by comparing Eigen values and Eigen vectors from the modal analysis.Copyright (c) 2022 Elsevier Ltd.
