Ne-like Cr x-ray lasers driven by picosecond laser pulses

摘要
High gain operation of Ne-like Cr x-ray laser based on transient lasing process has been predicted by a model simulation. The rapid heating of preformed plasmas without causing over-ionisation has been found to be the main reason for the high gain operation. The model calculation shows that transient high gain can be generated on (2p(1/2), 3p(1/2))(J=0) --> (2p(1/2), (3)s(1/2))(J=1) transition at 27.5 nm using only a few joules of drive energy. The calculation has also defined the minimum requirement for drive energy of picosecond lasers.
